BACKGROUND

We were selected as the design experts for the Food Network Show, "Invention Hunters". JAM provided packaging and branding solutions to a variety of home-grown innovations. The first episode introduced Air Cork, formally known as the Wine Balloon, as a unique means of sealing a wine bottle once opened, preserving the wine's quality for three days.

ASSESSMENT

The current name "Wine Balloon" was confusing and its packaging did little to explain what the product was and how to use it.

SOLUTION

The gift-able, clear packaging allowed the product to be the hero and its reusable nature permitted consumers to store their product after use. Iconography helped explain how to use the product and the new name, Air Cork, further helped the consumer understand the functional aspect of the product. Due to the success of the rebranding the inventor sold Air Cork to Lifetime Brands.
